Allegheny Health Network (AHN) is Hosting 'College IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) Day' at Allegheny General Hospital (AGH) on 7/29/22

The Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, is offering a free program to students that are dealing with IBD (inflammatory bowel disease) which includes ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.

It is an in-person event so young people from Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland and West Virginia, that are within driving distance of Allegheny General in Pittsburgh, may want to set aside Friday, 7/29/22, for the event.

Going to college is a new experience and stressful if dealing with IBD. Young people with IBD that have already gone through university, and current students with IBD, participate in the event so there are lots of great tips, advice and information available straight from people who know first-hand. This get-together can provide an extra level of confidence that your IBD will not be an issue as you enjoy the college experience. And it will not.

The folks at the event will also discuss diet, eating and managing stress to help control IBD. You will meet people that you can network with in the future if you want and most importantly hear directly from young folks about how they worked through any difficulties with IBD while attending school.

Generally, processed foods and red meat tend to increase IBD symptoms for those predisposed. Veggies and fish are better choices.

If you know a young person with IBD, pass this information along. If you are a young person ready to attend university in another state, call and search around in your area because a hospital may offer a similar program. Good luck to all.
