NYA NYSE Weekly Chart

Keystone's NYA 40-Week MA Secular Signal monitors the price versus 40-week MA cross. The blue circles show how the equities markets were going over the falls dueing the summer of 2010 when Chairman Bernanke stepped in with QE2 and saved the day. But, in 2011, that petered out as well, as the blue cirlce shows, with a collapse in late July/earlyAugust. We remain in a Secular Bear Market ever since. Moving forward, note how the 40-week MA is sloping down so the 7771 number will continue to decrease making it ever so much easier for price to move above.

The purple circles show the immense respect that price has for the 200-week MA. The negative slope of the 200-week MA is very bearish and shows no signs of improving. Over the last two weeks, price tested the 200-week MA and bounced. Note the current sideways texture of the NYA which is reflective of the other broad market indexes as well. The red lines show the rising wedge, overbot conditions and negative divergence that created the smack down early in the year. The green lines show the falling wedge, oversold conditions and positive divergence that launched price back upwards. For the last few weeks, price moves inside the sideways triangle and last week closes at the top rail. Price is around the centerline S/R area of 7400-7450. The apex of the triangle is January, thus the markets will commit as the new year begins.

Watch the RSI, stochastics and money flow 50% levels as continual clues for market direction. Note the low volumes reflected for last week and Thanksgiving so the big spike in price last week is not occurring with any enthusiasm. Projection is sideways into January, where, at this time, bears are favored. Watch the SPX 12-month MA cross since if the SPX crosses up thru 1281, this chart would be needed next to verify that the secular bulls have regained market control. This places big empasis on the SPX 1281 level in this weeks trading. This information is for educational and entertainment purposes only.
