SPX S&P 500 30-Minute Chart with 8/34 MA Cross; S&P 500 Prints New Historic High Above 3200 to 3205.48
One of Keystone's important VST market indicators is the 8/34 MA cross on the SPX 30-minute chart. 'Here come ole flat top', as the Beatles would sing. Price is at a permanently high plateau, as Irving Fisher said in 1929. The 8 MA remains above the 34 MA so the bulls are in charge in the very short term but you can see it is a game of pennies at 3194-3196.
The 8 MA is 3195.67 so by definition, the SPX needs to print below here to curl the 8 lower for a potential negative cross with the 34 at 3194.62. If you see the SPX drop below 3195, the bears are stretching their legs, if price drops below 3194, the bears are starting to growl. If the 8 remains above the 34, the bears got nothing and the bulls rule. Bulls will rejoice above 3198. This information is for educational and entertainment purposes only. Note Added 10:47 AM EST: The SPX is up 7 points, +0.2%, to 3198.25 with a HOD at 3198.39 only pennies from the all-time record high at 3198.48 from yesterday, 12/18/19. VIX is flat at 12.55. The bulls are walking around with their chests puffed out, singin' songs and carryin' on. Can the euphoric bulls print another record high?
Note Added 10:56 AM EST: SPX 3198.16. The bulls keep pushing for that all-time record high above 3198.48. Bulls need another 32 cents higher; they are pushing, pushing, pushing...
Note Added 11:08 AM EST: Bingo. The bulls sing Hallelujah. They have reached the Promised Land with the S&P 500 printing a new all-time record high at 3198.76. The future is blue skies and rainbows. Bulls are buying stocks and ETF's without a care in the world. Everyday is a glorious party as the bulls ride the Fed's liquidity wave they implemented on 10/11/19. The central bankers are the market. Here's another new all-time record high at 3198.89. Wall Street traders agree that we are truly at a permanently high plateau that will never go down. Kneel at the feet of the Central Bankers and Sing Praise and Honor! Behold Their Majesty! Comically, does it last for more than a few more minutes?
Note Added 11:27 AM EST: Wheeee. Whoopie. The SPX tags 3201.99 a new all-time record high above 3.2K; the breach of 3198 led to 3202. Sound the Seven Trumpets! The ole adage 'don't fight the Fed comes to mind'. The SPX was goosed from 3194 to 3202 over the last hour. VIX stumbles sideways then moves higher to 12.60 which does not make sense. Volatility and stocks are both higher so one of them is wrong.
Note Added 11:44 AM EST: The SPX prints a new all-time record high at 3202.71 the highest number ever printed in history. SPX 3200. VIX 12.666.
Note Added 11:50 AM EST: SPX 3201. VIX 12.62. Here you go. The goose today is created by Treasury Secretary Mnuchin proclaiming that the US-China trade deal will be signed in early January. He is a fibber like his boss. Nonetheless, the stock market celebrates creating that pop from 3194 to the new all-time record high at 3202.71. The good news keeps on coming. What a joke it all is; crony capitalism on full display daily.
Note Added 11:55 AM EST: SPX 3201. VIX 12.63. Markets want more candy.
Note Added 12:38 PM EST: The SPX prints a new all-time record high at 3203.36. In March 2009, when the Fed's obscene Keynesian money printing started, the SPX was at 666. The power of the central bankers is astounding, well, at least on the upside. We have not seen what happens on the downside yet.
Note Added 12:45 PM EST: SPX 3201. VIX 12.52.The SPX gains one hundo points from the point at which Keybot the Quant algorithm flipped long. It's going to be a hoot when she rolls over.
Note Added 12:59 PM EST: SPX 3101. VIX 12.49.
Note Added 12:59 PM EST: SPX 3103. VIX 12.56. Go Jerome go! The bulls want another record high. They are pushing, pushing, pushing, 3203.31..... ding, ding, ding. The SPX prints a new all-time record high at 3203.61. Woo-hoo. SPX 3203.82. Powell is sitting on an easy money missile riding it to glory.
Note Added 1:45 PM EST: SPX 3203.58. VIX 12.58. The SPX prints a new record high at 3203.82. As the new record highs print one after another, the VIX is dead flat (not moving sharply lower).
Note Added 2:04 PM EST: The SPX prints a new all-time record high at 3203.94. The hits keep on coming.
Note Added 2:10 PM EST: The SPX prints a new all-time record high at 3204.61.
Note Added 2:29 PM EST: The SPX prints a new all-time record high at 3205.37. Up, up and away. Chairman Powell says come ride in my beautiful asset balloon; we can flyyyyyy. The last 65-minute trading segment of the day begins at 2:55 PM so if there is a price pivot it may occur in the 2:50 to 3:00 time slot.
Note Added 7:39 PM EST: The SPX prints a new all-time record high at 3205.48, the highest number in history, and a new all-time closing high at 3205.37. Stocks rolled over during the sixth trading segment but the bears do not have strength; they need higher volatility. Stocks recover into the closing bell. Floor traders are carrying around Chairman Powell on their shoulders honoring his power and ability to make stock markets move higher.
