SPX S&P 500 15-Minute Chart
This is interesting. Typically, about two-thirds of the time, stocks are weak moving through the new moon each month. The new moon peaks at 11:03 AM EST today (blue circle).
Conversely, the stock market is typically bullish through the full moon each month. The full moon peaks in two weeks on Wednesday, 3/20/19, at 9:42 PM EST. The FOMC decision and press conference is the same day in the afternoon. Perhaps Chairman Powell will be flapping his dovish wings like a madman. Stocks are bullish 80% of the time into the Fed meetings so this would be late Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 3/18, 3/19 and 3/20, respectively.
So the stock market background current will be moving in a bullish direction the week of 3/18. Perhaps there may be sogginess from now into much of next week. Then a big rally may be on tap for the FOMC festivities. Powell may drop money from helicopters proclaiming that the easy money will continue forever or at least as long as he is king of the Fed.
